3 MASTER KEYS FOR EXPLOITS IN FARMING

3 MASTER KEYS FOR EXPLOITS IN FARMING

You can make exploits in farming. Yes, farming is profitable and it can be a mega business for an individual. I did a series of direct and indirect interviews with various people in the business of farming and other thriving businesses. Most people agreed that one can make exploits in farming. But three keys must be in place to do this. These are what I now refer to as 3 master keys for exploits in farming. Here it goes:

1. THE MASTER KEY OF INITIAL CAPITAL. If you are truly serious about farming, you need to have the initial capital for the venture. Idea alone will not work without the necessary capital to start the business. You have many things to do with money. You need land, housing units, labour costs, and many other issues must be handled that demands the availability of funds. If you want to make definite exploits in farming, you should do all that you can to get the initial capital to take off. This is very important. It is all a matter of the mind. Get yourself together, be serious about your intentions and do your home work! The money will come, somehow.

2. THE MASTER KEY OF WORKING CAPITAL. I have encountered many farmers who started well, but could not continue because they got stuck with money problems along the way. They plough a lot of money into farming at the initial stage, but could not sustain the tempo because they attempted something beyond their financial capacity. This could really be a pathetic sight! Some farmers spent so much to construct houses with large number of flock but had little or nothing left to feed the birds or fish as the case may be. The point is this: no business can survive without a working capital. None! The basic wisdom is that you should put your planning in place to accommodate a vibrant working capital when your farm kicks off. If you have a million naira to start farming, you will be better off if you spend only half of this money as the kick off fund while you reserve the balance for the running of the farming operations.

3. THE MASTER KEY OF TIME. Time is critical if you want make exploits in farming. You must have time for the business or you simply stay away from farming. You can’t be here and there without proper focus on your farm and expect sound results. The Yoruba says, “Oju oloju ko jo oju eni.” That is, no one can play your role like you. If you will not have time for your farm and see to critical issues, it is better for you to shelve the idea of farming for now!

These are the three master keys for exploits in farming. They sound so simple, but they made a solid difference between a successful farmer and a lay about farmer.
